An institute for human and civilisational development

Vision

We envision a world built for the flourishing of every sentient being.

A world that develops its technology and its humanity together, in service of life — where the flourishing of each is woven into the flourishing of all.

FOUR PRINCIPLES

Sovereignty

Each person’s sovereignty is protected: in how they think, relate and live in their body.

Agency & accountability

Held together, not traded off. The condition under which trust between people and institutions becomes possible.

Eudaimonic design

A life going well as a whole, for everyone affected. The guide to everything we build: diverse ways of flourishing, protected rights, fairly shared benefits, respect for the living world.

Mutual development

People, relationships and institutions grow together: in intimacy and vulnerability, through whole-person formation.

Mission

We love this world too much to watch it lose its hard-won humanity.

So we are building a home for people who want to help shape the emerging world: a place that doesn’t ask you to pretend, where we study how civilisation can be reimagined, grow whole together, and hold power to account.

We research and test approaches to civilisational design from first principles, honouring inherited wisdom, holding our ideas to evidence and practice, and contributing instruments and methods others can use.

We publish our thinking openly and convene the people and organisations, in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond, who want to work on it together.

We develop programmes in which people cultivate agency and sovereignty in how they think, relate and live in their bodies, learning with and from one another — because a civilisation is only as healthy as the relationships it is made of, with one another and with the land.

We carry the work into public life through advocacy and art, pressing for institutions and technologies that respect human sovereignty and answer for the power they hold, and for a material floor that lets people live with dignity whatever their value on the job market.

We intend to embody what we propose: first in how we govern and sustain this institute, and, as trust and resources grow, in places and communities that prototype such a world.

The people

A civilisation is only as healthy as the relationships it is made of.

Between us we hold: formation, technology and institutions.

WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE FIELD

Changing how we live takes four capacities. Almost no one holds all four.

Across Europe and beyond, many organisations are already working on how we live together: retreat centres that develop people, think tanks that redesign institutions, research groups that test what works, media and movements that reach millions. Before relaunching, we mapped them. The same pattern kept appearing.

Formation

Method

testing what works

Strong in one or two. Human development rarely reaches institutions; institution-changers rarely develop people; much of both goes untested, and most of it never reaches the public.

What the work needs

Formation

developing people

Architecture

changing institutions

Traction

reaching the public

Method

testing what works

All four, feeding each other: people formed well enough to change institutions, institutions that make room for people to grow, methods that tell both what is working, and enough reach that it matters beyond any specific bubble.

Holding all four together is Entangled Civilisation’s working hypothesis, and the reason we have five fields of work rather than one. We offer it for testing and correction: we are not yet strong in all four ourselves, and we will measure ourselves against it each year and say where we fall short. The full analysis publishes with the white paper towards the end of the year.

Who the programmes serve

Those seeking their own development, and those building what the rest of us will live inside.

People seeking their own development

Cultivating agency and sovereignty in how you think, relate and live in your body — alongside others doing the same.

People building AI, technology and infrastructure

For those whose designs become the conditions the rest of us live within. Judgment, relational capacity and ethical maturity, developed as seriously as technical skill.

Kept accessible

Subsidised places, paired cohorts and funded participation, so that cost decides less about who takes part.

Events

Where the work gathers.

Talks, convenings and programmes, in Romania and online.

The End Of Medicine As We Know It

What survives when the algorithm out-diagnoses the physician, and aging itself becomes an engineering problem? Over one week, students and faculty meet in Timișoara to figure it out.
